Harvard scientist makes another horrifying claim about 'alien spacecraft' comet 3I/ATLAS - it's a much bigger situation than we thought
A recent claim by renowned Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb has raised eyebrows in the scientific community.
In a new blog post, Loeb argues that the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS could be significantly larger than any previously observed comets. Its size and features, according to Loeb, make it more likely to be an alien spacecraft than a natural object. This assertion has sparked a new wave of discussions around the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
Loeb explains that the comet’s mass is over 50 billion tonnes, at least a million times heavier than 1I/Oumuamua, the first interstellar object to be detected. He further suggests that the unusual jets coming from the object could be technological thrusters rather than typical cometary activity.
"The inferred mass of over 50 billion tons is at least a million times more than the inferred mass of 1I/Oumuamua," Loeb wrote. His theory challenges conventional explanations, proposing that the object’s characteristics could point to a deliberate design, possibly by an advanced civilization.
A theory that challenges existing ideas
Loeb's theory hinges on the idea that the mass loss seen from 3I/ATLAS might be much smaller if the object is powered by human-made technology, such as ion thrusters. He explains, "Chemical rockets are propelled by an exhaust speed of 3–5 kilometers per second, which is ten times larger than the maximum ejection speed of volatiles sublimated by sunlight from cometary surfaces."
He goes on to suggest that alien technology might even use thrusters with speeds exceeding those of ion thrusters, making the mass loss required for the object’s propulsion much smaller than previously thought.
Loeb has raised further alarms about the potential significance of the comet. He warns that if 3I/ATLAS is indeed a spacecraft, it could represent a "black swan event," an occurrence that would have massive consequences on a global scale. Loeb stresses that it is crucial for scientists and global agencies to stay alert and be prepared for the possibility that this comet could be something entirely different from what they have been studying so far.
Potential consequences of a discovery
In addition to the technical speculation, Loeb’s comments also touch on the broader implications of this discovery. He warns that if 3I/ATLAS is an alien spacecraft, it could indicate the presence of a more advanced civilization. "We're screwed" if the object is from such a civilization, he states, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and readiness. The enormous size, speed, and peculiar features of 3I/ATLAS have left many scientists scratching their heads. Some footage from Japan showing what is claimed to be a "large vessel" near the comet has only fueled further conspiracy theories, suggesting that there may be more to this mysterious object than meets the eye.
As the comet continues its journey through the solar system, all eyes will remain on 3I/ATLAS, with experts eagerly awaiting further developments and data that may reveal its true nature.
