Newly released police bodycam footage shows the Cinnabon employee who was fired after going on a racist rant at a Wisconsin mall trying - and failing - to explain her behavior to a cop.
The incident, which took place at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon, has sparked outrage across social media, aftere a video of the white employee - identified only as Crystal - proudly declaring “I am racist and you are a n*****” to a Somali couple went massively viral.
In the horrific clip, Crystal is seen calling the woman a racial slur multiple times, flipping off the couple with both hands, and shouting, “I’ll say that to the whole entire world.”
Police Bodycam Footage
The bodycam video, obtained by TMZ and released by Ashwaubenon Public Safety, shows the moment an officer approached the Cinnabon stand after the incident.
“I bet you know why I’m here,” he says as he walks up to the counter. Crystal, still in uniform, appears clueless at first, but then blames the couple for provoking her.
“They treated me like s*** first. They came here and harassed me. I have PTSD,” she tells the officer. “It’s not the first time, it’s not the second time... they threatened me.”
When pressed for details, Crystal repeatedly says she “doesn’t know” how they threatened her. The officer, clearly frustrated, warns her she could be arrested for disorderly conduct if she doesn’t cooperate.
At one point, she asks for a lawyer and accuses the officer of being sent there by someone he’s never heard of.
Meanwhile, a separate bodycam clip captures the officer speaking with the Somali couple, who shared their video evidence and described the events from their side. The altercation reportedly began after Crystal made comments about the woman’s hijab.
The couple, visibly shaken in the video, responded by calling Crystal an idiot and warning her she would lose her job.
They weren’t wrong.
Cinnabon Has Spoken Out
The bakery company issued a statement saying Crystal was “immediately terminated” following the incident, which occurred on Dec. 6.
Since then, fundraisers have emerged for both sides of the confrontation - with wildly different outcomes.
A donation page set up for Crystal has raised over $157,000, strangely claiming “no White person should lose their job for refusing to be harassed by Somalians.”
Meanwhile, a fundraiser for the Somali couple has raised just under $19,000, with organizers saying the money will go toward legal fees.
