Mom of 18-year-old Florida cheerleader found dead on cruise has one major question about her tragic death

Heather Wright, the biological mother of Florida cheerleader Anna Kepner, has raised concerns about her daughter’s sleeping arrangements on the Carnival cruise ship where Anna was found dead earlier this month.

Wright, who had been estranged from her daughter for several years, is now speaking out after authorities officially ruled the death a homicide. In particular, Wright is questioning why Anna was sharing a cabin with her 16-year-old stepbrother, who has since become a suspect in the case.

Wright shared her thoughts in an interview with Fox News, expressing disbelief at the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death. "Why am I the bad guy?" she said, pointing out that Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, had placed the two teenagers together in the same room.

Wright also voiced her frustration about the lack of transparency from her ex-husband and authorities in the aftermath of her daughter’s death.

Details of Anna’s death remain scarce

The details surrounding Anna Kepner’s death on November 6 remain unclear. Authorities have confirmed that Anna’s body was discovered hidden under a bed in the cabin she was sharing with her stepbrother. While the investigation continues, the young man is reportedly under scrutiny as a possible suspect in the crime.

Anna had been traveling on the cruise with her blended family, which included her father, stepmother, siblings, and stepsiblings. Wright, who lives in Oklahoma, claims that she had tried to stay connected with Anna over the years but was often prevented from doing so by her ex-husband. “She was my daughter, and I loved her with all of my heart and soul,” Wright said.

Conflict with her ex-husband after Anna’s death

Wright’s grief has been compounded by her strained relationship with her ex-husband, Christopher. She accused him of not informing her about Anna’s death and of initially excluding her from the online obituary. Wright also claimed that she was not allowed to attend the memorial service, forcing her to attend in secret. “They said I never went, but I did,” Wright said. “I didn’t want to be seen, so I made sure no one seen me.”

As the investigation unfolds, questions about the nature of Anna’s relationship with her stepbrother and the circumstances surrounding her death continue to haunt those closest to her.

Wright’s accusations and the ongoing mystery surrounding the case have only deepened the pain for a mother who says she will never stop seeking the truth.
