Former NYC mayor Bill de Blasio splits with girlfriend 23 years younger than him after alleged affair with elected official
Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his younger girlfriend, progressive activist Nomiki Konst, have reportedly ended their relationship after de Blasio’s alleged affair with an elected official. The couple, who had been together for ten months, went public with their romance in February 2025. Konst, known for her work as an investigative reporter and political commentator, has now reportedly split from de Blasio following accusations of infidelity.
De Blasio, 64, and Konst, 41, appeared to be a well-matched couple in the public eye, both involved in progressive political causes. However, sources close to Konst revealed that she was devastated by the affair.
A friend of Konst shared their feelings with The New York Post, saying, "The way it all went down was even worse than what he f**king did. She was really, really happy, and then, when it happened, I was like 'What!?'." The friend added, "She was so empathic, even though she was the victim, but he just kept hurting her."
De Blasio’s public statement on the breakup
Bill de Blasio confirmed the breakup in a statement to The New York Post, expressing regret but also a sense of respect for Konst. "Nomiki and I had a lovely relationship for 10 months, I have deep respect for her and what she stands for, and I hope we can have a real friendship in the future," he said.
At the time the relationship went public, de Blasio described his connection with Konst as one of "kindred souls," and their public appearances often displayed a united front. In one notable event, the pair wore matching "Hot Girls for Zohran" t-shirts in support of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a progressive candidate.
Nomiki Konst’s background and career
Nomiki Konst has made a name for herself as a political commentator and activist, known for her work with outlets like The Young Turks and The Hill. She has also been involved in several political campaigns, including her own run for office.
As a former co-chair for Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign, Konst has remained a fixture in progressive political circles. She has also hosted The Nomiki Show, a political commentary program that airs on CBS News and CNN.
Konst's career and background in politics were key parts of her public persona, and her relationship with de Blasio seemed to align with her progressive ideals. However, with the relationship now ended, it appears she is focusing back on her own career, leaving behind the public drama that surrounded the breakup.
