The mysterious Christmas Eve disappearance of a 19-year-old woman in Texas has triggered a sweeping multi-agency search, with officials warning she may be in "imminent danger" and could have crossed international borders.
Camila Mendoza Olmos was last seen early on December 24 leaving her home in Bexar County, just outside San Antonio, per BBC News.
It was meant to be her usual morning walk - but nearly a week later, there’s still no sign of her.
The only visible clue is a trail of surveillance footage and a dashcam clip that show the teen walking through her neighborhood before vanishing.
Last known sightings captured on camera
Olmos, a US citizen and Mexican national, was first spotted on home surveillance footage searching through the back of her car before walking off.
Her vehicle was later found abandoned. Crucially, authorities say she left behind her phone - a move described as highly unusual, as reported by ABC News.
She is believed to have been carrying her car keys and possibly her driver’s license.
Now, new footage has surfaced, offering a clearer look at her movements. Captured by a passing motorist’s dashcam, the video shows a woman believed to be Olmos walking northbound on Wildhorse Parkway, just a few blocks from her house.
"On the morning of Wednesday, December 24, 2025, 19-year-old Camila Olmos left her residence in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring on foot," said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
"A passing driver traveling on Wildhorse Pkwy that morning captured footage believed to show Camila walking northbound on Wildhorse Pkwy around 7:00 a.m., between Shetland Wind and Caspian Spring."
Sheriff Salazar added: "This was the best direction of flight that we were able to develop."
At the time, Olmos was wearing white shoes, baby blue pajama bottoms, and a black and baby blue hoodie.
Fears of trafficking or cross-border abduction
Law enforcement officials are not ruling anything out - including abduction or trafficking. Sheriff Salazar confirmed that federal agencies like the FBI and Department of Homeland Security are now involved in the case, with concerns that she may have been taken across the U.S. border.
"We definitely don't want to miss anything. The ground search is somewhat limited to a couple of square miles. We're also not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States," Salazar said.
He told CBS that investigators have deployed everything from drones and cadaver dogs to search-and-rescue teams.
In a statement to ABC News, Salazar said: “That was a personal concern. So, I had it checked to make sure that there were no stops, no detentions, and that she's not somewhere in a federal detention facility.”
He clarified that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had not detained Olmos despite ongoing enforcement sweeps across the country.
Authorities have also explored reports of a recent breakup, but so far no foul play has been identified. Olmos’ ex-boyfriend has reportedly been cooperative, even assisting in the search.
Investigators say the case remains wide open, with no solid leads yet.
Family pleads for help as search continues
Olmos’ mother raised the alarm after her daughter didn’t return from her walk within the expected time. Since then, the teen’s family and local community have been desperately hoping for her safe return.
"Cami needs us," her aunt Nancy Olmos wrote in an emotional social media post. "By the grace of Jesus Christ, we will find you, Cami."
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward. In a plea to the public, they stated: “If you commute through this area or have dash cam or home surveillance footage that may have captured Camila — please contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 210-335-6000 or email [email protected]."
