Kirsten Welker has received widespread praise on social media for her role in moderating last night's final presidential debate.
The 44-year-old was able to successfully keep the candidates to their allotted times and stop them from talking over her during a debate that, at times, became quite heated.
Welker is praised in the video below for last night's performance:

Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Welker graduated from Harvard in 1998 and became NBC's White House Correspondent in 2011, before taking on the role of co-anchor of Weekend Today.
Since the debate, there have been more than 125,000 tweets about Welker, the BBC reports, who is the second black woman to moderate a presidential debate in history - with ABC News journalist Carole Simpson first taking on the role back in 1992.
At the time of Simpson's moderation of the debate between Bill Clinton and George HW Bush, Welker would have still been in high school.

Welker's praised performance comes after Fox News journalist Chris Wallace was criticized for his handling of Trump and Biden's last debate, and Susan Page also received criticism for how she handled the vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, Welker was praised for managing to keep the candidates in line and controlling the conversation - although it is worth noting that they were muted during the other speaker's allotted two minutes
Bianna Golodryga wrote of Welker's performance: "[Kirsten Welker] is the most memorable part of this debate...for all the right reasons. She never made it about herself, she controlled the conversation, and she followed up. Bravo, my friend!"

Golodryga was not the only journalist to praise Welker, with NBC's Chief White House Correspondent Hallie Jackson dubbing her moderation "a career-defining moment".

Meanwhile, news anchor Harris Faulkner said she "gave the American people a real debate".

PBS White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor said she was "beaming" while watching Welker's moderate the debate.

However, it wasn't just journalists who thought that Welker did a fantastic job, and one Twitter user went as far as to say that she deserved a medal.

A third added: "Kirsten Welker is killing it as the moderator tonight. You can tell she's had to deal with a lot of overly confident white men in her professional life."

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "I am floored by the performance of #KirstenWelker during the debate. I can't recall any other moderates ever exceeding what she did last night! She is a rock star!"

Welker was even praised by the president himself, who described her as "terrible and unfair" prior to the debate.
"By the way, so far I respect very much the way you're handling this," he said during the debate.
