Taylor Swift admits she refuses to wash one part of her body when she showers

Taylor Swift has had a whirlwind week, making headlines not only for her music but also for a light-hearted, years-old shower confession that has resurfaced online.

The renewed attention comes just as the pop star shared an unexpected update alongside her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

In a teaser for tomorrow’s episode (August 13) of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Swift announced the title of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The reveal caused an immediate stir, with the short 13-second preview reportedly attracting more than 10 million views on social media within 30 minutes, according to Taylor Swift Charts+.

The excitement over both the album and her guest appearance on the podcast sent fans into overdrive, fueling speculation about its sound, themes, and release date.

Yet amid the flurry of music news, some fans seem stuck on a very different subject, one tied to an interview Swift gave in 2019 on The Ellen Show. During that appearance, host Ellen DeGeneres asked her a slightly unusual question: “Do you wash your legs in the shower?” Swift’s answer sparked laughter in the studio but has now reignited debate on social media.

“I do, because when you shave your legs, the shaving cream is like soap, right?” Swift replied at the time. DeGeneres agreed, suggesting that many women wash their legs while shaving. Swift seemed relieved, saying: “So that counts? Good. I’m on the right side of history, then.”

The exchange took a playful turn when DeGeneres quipped that if Swift wasn’t shaving, she wasn’t washing. Swift countered that she almost always shaved her legs, prompting DeGeneres to joke: “God, you must be hairy!”

When the clip resurfaced recently, the reaction was swift and divided. Some social media users criticised the habit, insisting that shaving did not equate to proper washing. “How the hell do you not wash your legs in the shower?” one person posted.

Another wrote: “I’m confused, isn’t the shower supposed to be the place where you wash everything?” Others went further, questioning how anyone could leave a shower without cleaning every part of their body.

However, many fans rushed to defend the singer. “Come on, this is so ridiculous. Leave her alone, who cares what she does or doesn’t do in the shower?” one person said.

Another argued that Swift’s routine was perfectly reasonable: “She said she doesn’t wash her legs because she shaves them every day. To me that’s the same as washing. People are crazy with all this nonsense.”

Some pointed out that different people have different shower styles, with one user noting: “She was talking about a quick shower versus an everything shower.”

While the playful debate has gained traction, it is unlikely to distract from the bigger news: Swift’s upcoming album.

With The Life of a Showgirl marking her 12th studio release, excitement is already building among fans.

As with most things in Swift’s world, whether it’s a major career announcement or a minor personal revelation, the conversation is certain to keep rolling.
