Mama June's daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell has reportedly been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
As reported by TMZ, sources close to 28-year-old Anna revealed that the reality star was told in January that she has stage 4 adrenal carcinoma.
This rare type of cancer forms around the outside layer of the adrenal gland, according to the National Cancer Institute.
According to TMZ, she underwent a string of tests for stomach aches - and a cancerous growth was ultimately discovered in her liver, kidney, and lung.
The insiders also revealed that the family has come together to help Anna as she battles the disease. Her loved ones are reportedly "very hopeful" she will get better.
Anna has undergone her first round of chemotherapy, as doctors wait to carry out further treatment to see how her body reacts.
The mom of two shares two girls - 10-year-old Kaitlyn and seven-year-old Kylee - with her ex-husband, Michael Cardwell.
The Walmart employee previously revealed that while trying for a third child with her partner, Eldridge Toney, she had several miscarriages.
"It’s been a long, bumpy road for us," Anna told The US Sun in June 2021. "It’s been difficult."
She added: "I don’t make enough progesterone. I don’t have enough in my system, so it keeps the baby from getting enough nutrition."
Anna also shared her concerns about potentially tying the knot again following her 2014 wedding to Michael.
"You never know what will happen," she said, before going on to reveal that she and Eldridge wear promise rings. "I always tell him marriage is just a piece of paper saying ‘Hey you’re married.’ I told myself if we make it past four years, then we can talk more about it."
Anna is best known for appearing on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo - a reality show named after her then-six-year-old younger sister Honey Boo Boo (real name: Alana Thompson). The show also featured their other sisters, Jessica and Lauryn, as well as extended family members.
The series spanned 55 episodes over five seasons from 2012 to 2017.
Alana, 17, currently lives with her older sister Lauryn and is estranged from their mom, Mama June.
Mama June (real name: June Shannon) lost custody of the teen last summer.
The judge said at the time that Lauryn "has had guardianship of the minor child" since April 29, 2019. "It is in the best interest of the child that the plaintiff is awarded sole custody," the judge added, per The Sun.
Lauryn first became Alana's temporary guardian in August 2019 after their mom was arrested on drug possession charges that year with her then-boyfriend Geno Doak.
The older sister was permitted by her father, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, to seek guardianship over her younger sister.
Now, Lauryn is the reality TV star's sole decision-making authority until she reaches legal age, and she has the right to make the day-to-day care decisions for her.
