Taylor Swift has officially been dismissed from testifying in the ongoing legal dispute between It Ends With Us co-stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, but her name is still caught in the crossfire.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman ruled that while Baldoni's legal team can seek communications between Swift and Lively regarding the upcoming film adaptation of It Ends With Us, Swift herself will not be required to appear in court.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the judge agreed that messages involving Swift may be relevant to Lively’s claims of harassment and retaliation but limited the scope strictly to communications about the film or the legal issues at hand.
Lively’s legal team previously tried to negotiate a deal, offering full access to internal video footage and unredacted communications referenced in Baldoni’s complaint, with the caveat that Swift’s personal texts would remain private. Baldoni’s team declined the offer, PEOPLE reports.
The legal dispute began when Lively filed a lawsuit in December 2024, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and orchestrating a campaign to damage her career.
In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million counterclaim (now dismissed), which named Swift and Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds as key figures in the alleged conflict.
In his filing, Baldoni claimed Lively used her close friendship with Swift, as well as the star power of Swift and Reynolds, to influence creative decisions on set.
He referenced text messages from Lively that reportedly referred to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons” and defenders, suggesting Baldoni felt pressured by their involvement.

Baldoni also claimed to have attended a meeting at the couple’s home, during which Swift allegedly participated in discussions about rewrites for the film based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.
Though Swift was subpoenaed to testify in the trial scheduled for March 2026, that request has since been dropped.
Despite avoiding the witness stand, Swift is reportedly upset about being pulled into the controversy. A source revealed the singer is “forever furious” with Lively for dragging her into the legal mess.
