It's fair to say that plenty of millennials who grew up reading the Harry Potter books were left jaded and disappointed by the time they reached adulthood - when no letter from Hogwarts ever arrived for them via owl post.
But now, gamers everywhere will finally get the chance to enroll at the word's most famous school of witchcraft and wizardry after all. because a new Harry Potter game, set in the Hogwarts of the 1800s, is due to be released for the upcoming Playstation 5 games console.

The so-called Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player role-playing game where gamers have the opportunity to join the student body of Hogwarts in the victorian era, more than 100 years before the events of either Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The game, which is being published by Warner Bros and developed by Avalanche Games, was unveiled to the public on Wednesday, September 16, as part of Sony’s PlayStation 5 price reveal live stream event.

A gameplay trailer has been uploaded to Playstation's official YouTube channel, which shows the player attending potions and herbology class, visiting the sleepy little village of Hogsmeade, flying on the back of a hippogriff, and strolling past animated suits of armor in the hallways of the castle.
In a recent blog post, Avalanche story head Adrian Ropp commented on the game by stating: "[The Developers] are always asking ourselves how we can draw from the rich library of characters, creatures, and themes - and imagine how those details would influence the school more than a century before Harry Potter’s arrival."

Ropp added: "Who was the headmaster? What challenges did students face? What influenced their society before Tom Riddle, before Newt Scamander? I like to say that what we are giving fans is something familiar in a way they have never seen."
No specific release date has been provided for the game as of yet, but it's expected that the game should be available sometime in 2021.
