Charlie Sheen has revealed his initial reaction to daughter Sami joining OnlyFans

Charlie Sheen has opened up about his relationship with his daughter, Sami Sheen, saying that he is grateful that she witnessed him in a period of personal growth, especially during his battle with addiction.

In a recent interview with Bustle, which featured a profile on Sami and her life as an OnlyFans creator, the former Two and a Half Men star opened up about their evolving relationship and how living together during a pivotal time brought them closer.

Sami, now 20, recalled appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2019, during a particularly difficult chapter of her life while her mother, Denise Richards, was a cast member. She admitted that at the time, she was struggling with her mental health.

“Looking back at clips of me in the ‘Housewives,’ you can tell I was going through it,” Sami told Bustle. “When it was airing, people would say, ‘Oh my God, she looks awful.’ It’s like, ‘Yeah, dude, I was so depressed. I didn’t care about anything.’”

Amid family tensions in 2022, Sami chose to move out of her mother’s home and live with her father. Although Richards previously described the father-daughter relationship as "strained," the move turned out to be a turning point not just for Sami, but for Charlie as well.

Reflecting on that time, the actor told Bustle: “What she had the benefit of, and I had the uber benefit of, was she was there towards the end of my drinking. She got to see, up close and personal, that journey.”

Now living in Calabasas with her boyfriend, Sami still maintains a close connection with her dad. The two spend quality time together going to music festivals, bonding over artists like Billie Eilish, and caring for Sami’s beloved cats. Their relationship has transformed from inconsistent to dependable, the Two And A Half Men star says.

“She got to see an inconsistent me become the most reliable person in her life,” Sheen shared. “And that’s something I’ll always be proud of.”

When Sami first told him she was joining OnlyFans, Sheen admitted he initially reacted with concern. “I had a knee-jerk reaction to it because of the reputation that preceded it,” he said. “I was just like, ‘Oh, this can only go bad.’”

But over time, he came to recognize the importance of being a supportive parent. “She’s doing this, and it can only be a much more successful and pleasant experience with the support of myself, her mom, and others,” he said. “I have to trust that all of her virtues, and all the wonderfulness that makes her her, come with her.”

Sheen, who was widely covered in the mid-2000s for health and addiction issues and later publicly disclosed his HIV-positive status, says that this timing - both being at key points in their lives - feels almost cosmic.

“Of course, it wasn’t a plan,” he added. “The universe had us together when it did, which is pretty amazing.”
