Astroworld victim's dog keeps looking for her around the house, heartbroken cousin says

A dog belonging to the ninth victim of Astroworld's deadly crowd surge last week has been suffering from the loss of the 22-year-old Texas A&M student.

Bharti Shahani succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, November 10, and the following day, her grieving family confirmed the tragic news at a press conference.

Shahani's cousin, Mohit Bellani, who was with her at the concert, opened up about the deep connection she had with her two-year-old husky named Blue during the emotional press conference.

Per Insider, Bellani shared with reporters that the devastated canine has been searching for its owner around its Texas home.

"He is still looking for her all around the house," he said.

The victim's sister, Namrata Shahani - who was also at the concert - called her late sibling her "best friend" and said, "She was also Blue's best friend."

She also said that her sister was the "only one" who could take Blue out on a walk.

Per Houston's ABC affiliate, Shahani had shown no signs of brain activity and was placed on a ventilator at Houston Methodist Hospital after she was injured in the stampede on Friday, November 5.

Her father, Bhagu Shahani, also spoke at the press conference, saying: "She was like an angel to us. She was the head of the family, she was a very nice girl. Always calm, always listened. She had a bright future."

Bellani described visiting his unconscious cousin at the hospital, recalling: "I walked into the room and I saw her with the tubes down her throat and I just wish we could bring her back, somehow."

He said he struggled to call the deadly event on November 5 a "festival" and instead branded it an "atrocity."

"They suffocated us. They did this to Bharti. They suffocated Bharti," Bellani added. "They did this to the other eight people who also lost their lives that night."

It has since been confirmed by attorney James Lassiter that a viral video in which an unconscious woman being carried on a stretcher by medics is suddenly dropped to the floor, is footage of Shahani.
