What to wear on a flight can make or break your travel experience - but one major airline has warned its passengers against wearing jeans on board.
Whether you're a devotee of dressing smart in a full airport 'fit or you're committed to being comfortable in sweatpants, airport dressing can be a divisive topic.
Of course, there are some items that are a definite no-no, such as high-heeled shoes which may impede your exit if you were to - god forbid - ever need to evacuate the plane in an emergency, as well as anything that might be a little too revealing or cumbersome to wear in such a setting.
Jeans have always been a point of contention for fliers, as some people swear by wearing denim on board, while others could not think of anything worse than being stuck in a cramped plane seat for several hours in such constricting attire.
Budget airline Ryanair has now officially weighed in on the discussion, pleading with its passengers not to wear jeans on board.
Ryanair took to TikTok to share a video of one of its planes, along with the overlay text: "It's 2026, let's stop travelling in jeans," adding in the caption: "please," along with the praying hands emoji.
The surprising message left passengers confused, as one wrote: "What is wrong with jeans please explain," to which the airline replied: "what's right with them?"
Another fan added: "It doesn't fit in my suitcase that’s why I wear it," while someone else pointed out their restrictive baggage policy, writing: "well then maybe let me bring a bigger bag to PUT MY JEANS IN."
Someone else commented: "you'll probably start charging extra for that," referring to the budget airline's fees for everything from choosing your seat to actually sitting near the loved ones you're traveling with, as another passenger joked: "Are you gonna charge for wearing jeans now?"
One suggested: "It's 2026 give us something to dress up for," while another wrote: "Mind your business."
Someone pointed out the flaw in their rhetoric, joking: "Whenever I take them off the flight attendants get mad at me," as another added: "Jokes on you, the next time i’m flying Ryanair, I won’t wear pants at all."
While the thought of jeans on a plane is pretty horrifying, let's not take things too far and turn up pantsless...
Ultimately, if you find jeans comfortable enough to sit in for hours at a time, you do you - but you just cant beat flying in sweatpants, as far as I'm concerned.
