Fitness influencer dies after taking part in marathon weight gain challenge eating only fast food

A popular Russian fitness influencer has reportedly died after taking part in a challenge where he put on weight from eating fast food before losing it quickly.

Dmitry Nuyanzin, a popular blogger and personal trainer from Orenburg, was known for sharing videos on his social media accounts promoting fitness and health, but got this fitness challenge badly wrong.

Dmitry Nuyanzin’s death came after a bizarre ‘marathon’ challenge.

The 30-year-old fitness creator was taking part in a bizarre experiment geared towards creating a New Year fitness regime for his followers.

However, things went way too far, and it cost him his life.

The plan was for Dmitry to deliberately pile on a lot of weight from eating nothing but fast food before rapidly losing that weight afterwards.

It goes without saying, but this isn’t something that anyone should attempt, and it can be very dangerous.

According to the rules of the ‘marathon’, participants weighing over 100kg were expected to lost 10 percent of their entire body weight by the new year in order to win a financial reward.

In the week before his tragic passing, Nuyanzin told his followers that he had reached 103 kilograms.

Following that, the plan was to drastically lose that weight to show his followers that it was possible, but ultimately it ended up costing him his life.

Losing weight very quickly - or gaining weight very quickly - is not a sustainable fitness method, and you have to be very careful.

Things started to turn bad very quickly

On the day before he died, Dmitry cancelled workouts because of his failing health, then made an appointment with his doctor.

He never made it to that appointment.

According to local reports, the cause of his death was cardiac arrest while he slept, caused by the excessive strain put on his body by the extreme challenge.

His death was mourned on social media, where he had made his name.

One person commented: “How can this be?! Dima!? I can't believe it.... Bright, handsome, strong, positive, smart, young!!!! It's so painful to lose people like that..."

Another wrote: “I just heard about it on the news... Dima, I can't believe it. My condolences to your wife, family, and friends... you always inspired admiration and motivation. You were a great guy. What a shame.”

A third said: “Dima!!! How is this possible?? I haven't seen you since school, but I was so proud of you and what you do!!!”
