Kanye West shares rare baby pics as he thanks parents 'for letting me live'

Kanye West has once again taken to Twitter, this time to thank his parents for "letting him live".

Per The Metro, the rapper is in the Caribbean with his wife, Kim Kardashian, and their four children in a purported attempt to heal after a tough few weeks for the family.

Today (7th August), the Yeezy designer wrote on Twitter: "Thank you God and mom and dad for letting me live," alongside a picture of him as a child with his mother, Donda.

This comes after Kanye opened up about his relationship with his parents during his first presidential rally in South Carolina last month, and also touched on his views on abortion and Planned Parenthood.

Kanye aligned himself with the pr0-life movement, suggesting that every mother should be paid $1 million in order to prevent them from considering abortions.
"My mum saved my life. My Dad wanted to abort me… ‘My mum saved my life, there would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy," he said at the rally.

He also claimed that he and his reality star wife considered not going ahead with their first pregnancy when expecting their eldest child, North, back in 2012.

"I almost killed my daughter," he said, tearing up. "In the Bible, it says, “Thou shall not kill”. I remember that my girlfriend called me screaming and crying, and I was just thinking, because at that time I was a rapper I was out there, [had] different girlfriends and everything… and she said, 'I’m pregnant'.

"And I said, 'Yes!' And then I said, 'Uh oh'. She was crying… and for one month and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand.' I’m in the apartment where my wife was actually robbed, and I have my laptop up and I have all of my creative ideas, I’ve got my shoes, I’ve got my next song cover… and the screen went black and white. And God said, 'If you f**k with my vision I’m gonna f**k with yours'. And I called my wife and she said, 'We’re gonna have this baby', and I said 'We’re gonna have this child'.

On July 22nd, Kim issued a statement on Kanye West's mental health.

The reality television star took to her Instagram Stories today (Wednesday, 22nd July) to call for "compassion" and "empathy", as she discussed her husband's bipolar disorder. The follows the rapper posting a slew of tweets that prompted widespread concern.

"As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar [sic] disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand," Kim wrote.

"I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health," the mother-of-four continued.

"Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try."

While the 39-year-old noted that she "understands" that Kanye is "subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions," she added: "He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions."
