James Cameron reveals why he 'almost hit Harvey Weinstein with his Oscar' at 1998 ceremony

"It was happening on the main floor at the [theater] . . . And the music had started to play to get back in our seats. The people around us were saying, “Not here! Not here!” Like it was okay to fight in the parking lot, you know, but it was not okay there when the music was playing, and they were about to go live."

"It’s kind of a long story, but it has to do with Guillermo del Toro and how badly he was dealt with by Miramax on Mimic," the director explained. "Harvey came up glad-handing me, talking about how great they were for the artist, and I just read him chapter and verse about how great I thought he was for the artist based on my friend’s experience, and that led to an altercation."
