Jake Paul brutally knocks out Nate Robinson and calls out Conor McGregor

Jake Paul floored former NBA point guard Nate Robinson twice in their bout on the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. undercard, before delivering a brutal knockout in the second round in Los Angeles.

The bout has since drawn heavy criticism from some in boxing who felt the contest was a mismatch and expressed concerns over the safety implications of such fights taking place.

Legendary women's boxer Amanda Serrano wrote on Twitter, "They need to STOP this Stupid Celebrity boxing thing. Boxing is a serious game. Nothing to be doing for YouTube likes. Most amateurs turning pro fight 4 rds these guys debuting in a 6 rdr. Someone’s going to get really Hurt one day. Not cool at All"

Meanwhile, British former world super-flyweight champion Kal Yafai tweeted, "Scary thing is Nate Robinson got licensed to fight a pro fight."

However, Jake Paul was clearly feeling good after his emphatic performance and went on to call out UFC great Conor McGregor, as well as a host of other names.

"I'm taking this seriously," Paul told BT Sport Box Office after the bout.

"There's a long list of opponents that I want. Conor McGregor, Dillon Danis, I'm going to knock them both out.

"There's my brother, there's KSI on the line, Austin McBroom. I want to be in this sport a long time. I'm in love with it, so why not."

Dillon Danis is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt who has long been a part of Conor McGregor's team that helps him prepare for UFC contests. "[You] just fought a retired nba reject be careful what you wish for little guy" Danis wrote on Twitter in response to the callout.

Despite the impressive nature of the knockout blow, the prospect of Jake Paul squaring off against a seasoned fighter seems far-fetched to say the least. Many in the YouTube community will now be hoping for Paul to fight KSI, who beat his brother Logan Paul in a rematch last year.

In the main event of the evening Mike Tyson, 54, ended 15 years out of the ring to take on 51-year-old fellow all-time great Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout that managed to provide its fair share of entertainment despite pre-fight fears over the legitimacy of the event.

There were glimpses of the pair's former glories as Mike Tyson ploughed forward in trademark style, swaying from the hips and looking to land combinations, while Roy Jones Jr. looked to deploy his fluid footwork and body movement. The bout ended in a draw.
