Hailie Jade McClintock is stepping into a new chapter of life — one that brings her closer than ever to understanding her famous father's past.
McClintock - daughter of legendary rapper Eminem - recently welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Elliot Marshall McClintock. Born on March 14, 2025, Elliot's middle name is a heartfelt tribute to the legendary rapper whose real name is Marshall Mathers.
The announcement came via a tender Instagram post from Hailie: “3 weeks earthside little e,” she wrote, sharing photos of her newborn bundled in a knit bear-ear hoodie. The moment marked a significant milestone — not just for Hailie and her husband, Evan McClintock, but also for fans who have watched Hailie grow up through her father’s music.
“I’ve Learned the Importance of Balancing What I Share”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Hailie, now 29, reflected on the complexities of raising her son in the public eye — an experience that echoes her own upbringing.
"Having been in the spotlight for so long, I’ve learned the importance of balancing what I share publicly with what I keep private," she said. "Over time, I’ve come to understand the struggle my father faced — wanting to protect our privacy while also feeling proud and wanting to celebrate his kids."
Hailie, who recently launched a digital home renovation series called Just a Little Reno, revealed that she filmed much of it while pregnant. Since becoming a mom, she admits she now feels a deeper connection to her father’s parental decisions.
"I feel the same way now," she told the outlet. "I want to share the proud, joyful moments that mean a lot to me, especially as a parent, but I’m also intentional about keeping certain parts of our lives just for us."
“It’s all about finding that balance between openness and privacy,” she added. “And that balance has become even more important to me as I navigate parenthood.”
“He Was the Best Role Model I Could Have Had”
This isn't the first time Hailie has spoken about her relationship with her famous father.
On her podcast, Just a Little Shady, she once opened up about Eminem’s parenting during a discussion with her uncle, Nate Samra-Mathers - Eminem’s younger half-brother.
"It's kind of like the same thing with Dad," she said when comparing their family dynamics. "Like a lot of people were concerned that he wasn't going to be a good dad or something. But here we are."
Nate agreed, saying: "He was the best role model I could have had to help me be the dad that I am today."
Hailie also expressed her appreciation for having been raised by younger parents: "It is cool when you're a younger parent because you get a friendship as well with your kids. I always did appreciate that."
A Father First: Eminem’s Lyrics as a Legacy
Long before becoming a rap icon, Eminem was just a young father trying to find his way. Hailie was born in December 1995, when he was just 23.
"Bein' a dad is definitely living a double life," Eminem told Rolling Stone in 2004. "Even before Hailie was born, I was a firm believer in freedom of speech... But once I hit them gates where I live, that's when I'm Dad."
He added: "Takin' the kids to school, pickin' 'em up, teachin' 'em rules. I'm not sayin' I'm the perfect father, but the most important thing is to be there for my kids and raise them the right way."
Over the years, Eminem has frequently honored Hailie in his music. He voiced his devotion in tracks like 'Hailie’s Song' and 'Mockingbird', and in more recent releases, he’s revisited that emotional bond. On his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), the rapper dedicated two songs to his children.
In 'Somebody Save Me', he confronts his near-fatal overdose in 2007 and imagines the future milestones he could have missed had he not survived.
"Look after Eleana, Stevie and Uncle Nate / And, sweetie, be strong; I know I was your rock, and I still am / Saying goodbye is just not ever easy," he raps. "Why you crying? Just stop / Hailie, baby, dry your eyes, this is not forever."
The track left fans emotional, with many sharing their reactions across social media platforms, praising the artist’s raw honesty and deep paternal love.
A Full-Circle Moment
In October 2024, Eminem gave fans a joyful surprise when he teased Hailie’s pregnancy in the music video for 'Temporary'. The video featured ultrasound scans and a custom Detroit Lions jersey labeled "GRANDPA".
Most recently, during a surprise appearance on stage with country star Jelly Roll at Ford Field in Detroit, Eminem took a moment to publicly acknowledge his daughter and her husband.
“Long time, no see, Detroit. One more time, make some noise for Jelly Roll, y’all. Hailie and Evan, happy anniversary, I love y’all,” he said, honoring their wedding, which took place on May 18, 2024.
