Celebrities have always been subject to more scrutiny than most, and now that we live in the digital age, they can be made all too aware of what some people think of them.
Case in point, Kate Beckinsale who was recently described by a troll as being "dreadfully thin".
Kate Beckinsale shows off her incredible flexibility while getting her makeup done:

This happened after the actress posted a video of herself snuggling next to her cat on Instagram. The cat was appropriately dressed as Chucky because Halloween is just about upon us.
Beckinsale captioned the video "sweet dreams" alongside a double heart emoji.

The majority of people praised Beckinsale's video as being hilarious in the comments, but there was one person who took umbrage not with its content per se, but the 47-year-old's appearance.
They took to the comments section to describe her as "dreadfully thin".

Totally unphazed by the troll's behavior, it wasn't long before Beckinsale replied with the perfect takedown.

"You're wearing speedo goggles," Kate wrote. "It might be hard for you to be entirely confident about what you're seeing - much less comment about it."

However, Beckinsale hasn't just been defending herself recently, and she also slammed those who criticized Chrissy Teigen over her miscarriage photos.
The actress revealed that she felt privileged to partake in Teigen's loss and hopes that her decision to share the photos will open up a wider discussion about death and baby loss.

Beckinsale wrote:
"I’ve noticed people criticizing @chrissyteigen for sharing deeply intimate photos of the loss of her baby. As if there’s some protocol during [the] soul-scouring calamity that, if not observed, emboldens people who do not know her or her family to say how she should be handling the unimaginable."
She then revealed that she herself lost a baby 20 weeks into pregnancy and was understandably devastated by the experience.
"Years ago, I lost a baby at 20 weeks. I had managed to keep my pregnancy quiet and I absolutely collapsed inside and no one would have known," the 47-year-old actress wrote.
"There is grief, shame, and shock so often that come with an experience like this, plus the heartbreak of your body continuing, after the loss, to act as if it had a child to nurture," she wrote.
"Your milk comes in, with no one to feed. It can be the loneliest, most soul-destroying period of time, particularly if you are not in the position of having an emotionally connected, supportive partner like Chrissy has."
