Hilary Swank has posted a sweet photograph announcing that she has given birth to twins at the age of 48, and people are thrilled for her.
The actress first revealed that she was expecting twins in October last year when she appeared on Good Morning America, and she could hardly contain her excitement about having kids with her husband Philip Schneider.
"I'm gonna be a mom! And not just of one, but of two," Hilary told the show. "It's so nice to be able to talk about it and share it."
Soon after, the star appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan where she referred to her pregnancy as a "miracle" and uploaded an image of herself pointing at her stomach with the caption: "Coming soon…DOUBLE feature!"
Hilary has now confirmed that she has given birth to her children with an adorable photo on her Instagram that has got everybody talking.
"It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it," the Million Dollar Baby star captioned her post. "Happy Easter! Posting from pure heaven."
The image is taken in front of an incredibly scenic backdrop and the actress can be seen holding the two new arrivals, which we now know are a boy and a girl.
Friends and fans from across the world have rushed to offer their congratulations to the 48-year-old as she begins her life as a new mother.
"God bless honey. This is the most extraordinary journey ever [...] so happy for you all," Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stoned penned under the photo.
Supernatural actor Misha Collins wrote: "So happy to see you turkeys soaking up the sea, the sun and the salt air! Love you. Welcome to planet earth little ones. Hope you have a lovely stay here."
Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson offered his congratulations and iconic actress Viola Davis also expressed her excitement at the news.
In an October interview with Extra, Hilary explained why she waited to have children. "I was having a career and not having the right relationship until … four years ago, and all the elements needed to come together and be right," she explained.
Hilary continued: "It’s just something I thought about even as a young girl. It’s something that was on my mind, so it’s nice to be here and just be pregnant."
