
Conchata Ferrell has sadly died aged 77 due to complications from cardiac arrest, it has been reported.
Ferrell was best known for playing Berta in the popular long-running sitcom Two and a Half Men. Deadline reports that she passed away in Sherman Oaks, California.
Since the news of her passing emerged, Ferrell's co-stars and contemporaries have been paying tribute to her.
Warner Bros TV, the distributer of the sitcom, wrote, "We are saddened by the loss of Conchata Ferrell and are grateful for the years she brought us laughs as Berta which will live on forever.”

Meanwhile, her co-star John Cryer wrote of Ferrell:
"She was a beautiful human Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I’m crying for the woman I’ll miss, and the joy she brought so many."

"I remember her first day on 2 1/2 Men. It was our second episode and I felt so lucky that they’d been able to cast her on the show. I gushed to her about what a fan i was of hers and she simply refused to believe it." He added.

And Charlie Sheen took to Twitter with a tribute of his own, writing:
"[An] absolute sweetheart a consummate pro a genuine friend a shocking and painful loss. Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your "people"keeping was perfect."

As well as her role in Two and a Half Men, Ferrell starred in TV shows and movies including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Ranch and Erin Brockovich.
Two and a Half Men ran for 12 seasons, from 2003 up until 2015, when the show's final episode aired.

Conchata Ferrell was born in 1943 in West Virginia and began her career on stage, where she received several awards for her role in The Sea Horse. In 1990, Ferrell appeared in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands and would go on to make guest appearances on Friends and ER.
Ferrell portrayed Berta in Two and a Half Men from 2003 to 2015, during which time she received two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
