Netflix has confirmed that there will be a 'Tiger King' sequel

Netflix has confirmed a sequel to its hit show Tiger King.

The streaming service announced the news on Twitter today (September 23), and revealed that it would be released this year alongside a series of other true crime documentaries, the Daily Mail reports.

Netflix wrote on Twitter: "Tiger King 2 is coming soon! And that's not all..."

It then revealed that its new true-crime offerings would also include The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman, The Tinder Swindler, Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King, Bad Vegan.

As per the Daily Mail, the synopsis for Tiger King 2 reads: "The global hit Tiger King, which attracted 64 million households in the first four weeks after its March 2020 premiere, will return to Netflix for more madness and mayhem."

While the official release date for Tiger King 2 is not yet known, Netflix whet fans' appetites by sharing a picture of Joe Exotic on the phone in prison with a smile on his face.

On the off chance that your memory needs refreshing, the original Tiger King docuseries focused on the feud between Joe Exotic and fellow big cat enthusiast Carole Baskin - a feud that led to Exotic's eventual incarceration.

Netflix said: "Stories about real crimes have captivated audiences since the dawn of media, from the old days of town criers and tabloids to today's podcasts and social media.

"As we've seen since our Emmy Award-winning series Making A Murderer first pierced the culture in 2015, documentaries can also meet that curiosity by immersing viewers in a true story to dissect its complexities and make sense of the unexpected.

"Now as we explore the spectrum of true crime, one particularly riveting area is that of cons, scams, and cautionary tales".

The statement continued: "Whether you want to dive into the psyche of a con artist, empathize with the victims of a scam, or piece together the puzzle of an investigation, these wild stories are often full of surprising twists and unusual perspectives."

To paraphrase Joe Exotic himself: I am never going to emotionally recover from this...
