Fans of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian have called for cast member Gina Carano to be axed over her conspiracy theory tweets related to the 2020 US Presidential Election.
The controversy was kickstarted earlier this month when the actress (who plays the character of bounty hunter Cara Dune in the Star Wars series) took to her official Twitter account to comment on Joe Biden's projected win.
Take a look at the official trailer for season two of The Mandalorian:

In a post made to her 483,000 f0llowers, Carano appeared to endorse incumbent president Donald Trump's allegations of voter fraud on the part of the Democrat Party.
Carano tweeted:
"We need to clean up the election process so we are not left feeling the way we do today.
"Put laws in place that protect us against voter fraud. Investigate every state. Film the counting. Flush out the fake votes. Require ID. Make Voter Fraud end in 2020. Fix the system. [sic]"

As a result of these comments, a number of other Twitter users quickly took to the comments of her tweet to lambast the performer for her unverified claims of voter fraud.
For instance, one person wrote: "Gina, I respect your statements, but it is not responsible to be focused on voter fraud right now when there has been 0 proof of it.
"America needs to fight against the egregious voter suppression the president is openly advocating for. Come on Gina, use your platform for better [sic]"

Per Newsweek, this is far from the first time that the actress has made such divisive statements on social media.
On Saturday, November 15, she also shared an image macro with the text: "Democratic government leaders now recommends [sic] we all wear blindfolds along with masks so we can't see what's going on."

According to Newsweek, the hashtag "#Ginacaranoisoverparty" began trending back in August, after she shared a tweet of a famous black-and-white photo showing a collective Nazi Salute, where one man isn't saluting.
A number of outraged Twitter users have since launched the hashtag "#fireginacarano", calling for Disney to fire Carano and recast her character.

For instance, one irate social media user tweeted: "This isn’t just a difference in political opinions, what she has done and continuing to do is violent and harmful. she is supporting and defending white supremacists and their extremist ideals whilst voicing her own. #fireginacarano [sic]"
Thus far, neither Disney nor Lucasfilm has commented on the controversy.
