The youngest victim of a crowd surge that killed eight people at Travis Scott's Astroworld festival has been named and photos of the teenager have surfaced online.
John Hilgert, 14, had attended the music festival in Texas with a friend when he got caught up in a stampede during the 30-year-old rapper's headline set on Friday, Metro reports.
About 50,000 people were in the crowd that day, which saw a sudden surge towards the stage during Scott's performance.
Baseball coach Justin Higgs has since paid tribute to John, who had been a rising star in the sport.
Higgs wrote alongside a snap of the youngster on Instagram: "RIP John Hilgert. He got the Call up to the Major Leagues by the Almighty! John made an impact on anyone who met him and they always remembered him. I have memories of John I’ll never forget.
"You had to love the kid. No option not too cause he was who he was. He loved the game if baseball. Was a privilege to coach this young man. Many prayers go out to any of his friends, teammates, and his family… especially Ms. Hilgert.
"One of the nicest human beings I’ve ever met. John was an Angel the whole time I knew him… impacting others for good and he himself was a legend. The legend of John.
"Will meet again John. Till then watch over us my friend. Catcher, pitcher, shortstop, great kid. Lived his life to the fullest."
Per the BBC, a criminal investigation has now been launched into the deadly ordeal at the concert.
Following the tragedy, Travis Scott took to Twitter to share a statement voicing his "absolute devastation."
