Simon Cowell undergoes six hours of back surgery after electric bike accident

Per iNews, Simon Cowell has undergone six hours of surgery after breaking part of his back falling from an electric bike.

The X Factor judge was testing out a new electric bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home this weekend when he fell to the ground.

A spokesperson for Cowell told Deadline on Saturday:

"Simon had a fall from his bike on Saturday afternoon whilst testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu with his family. He hurt his back and was taken to the hospital. He's doing fine, he's under observation and is in the best possible hands."

The music mogul took to Twitter today (10th August) to tell his fans to "read the manual" before using an electric bike.

"Some good advice… If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time," he told his 11.3 million followers. "I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages. And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone."

According to Sky News, Cowell's representative said he was "doing fine" after the six-hour procedure, and remains under observation.

Britain's Got Talent judge, Amanda Holden, wished Cowell well on social media.

"I’ve been thinking about my dear friend all day and luckily I’m able to say (with blessing) that he’s had his operation and he’s doing really well. Chris, Lexi, Hollie and me wish you a speedy recovery and send you, Lauren and Eric all our love," Holden wrote alongside a picture of the pair yesterday (9th August).
