Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd has opened up to fans about a major medical development: she has undergone a below-the-knee amputation on her left leg, six years after her right leg was amputated.
The 29-year-old actress has long been open about her complicated medical history, stemming from a severe football injury she suffered at the age of 15.
Despite years of surgeries and efforts to repair the damage, chronic pain and long-term complications ultimately led her to make the difficult decision to undergo a second amputation, ITV News details.
Ruth Shares Her News With Humor and Honesty
In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, Codd addressed her followers with the same humor, honesty, and warmth that helped her rise to fame during the pandemic. She joked that she had both good news and bad news to share.
The good news, she teased, was that she was once again creating content at her parents’ house, where she originally built her social media audience. The bad news: fans won’t see her familiar blue floral wallpaper in the background anymore, because the room is on the upper floor and no longer accessible after surgery.

She explained, with her usual comedic timing: “I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved.” Although she did not provide specific medical details, the update was heartfelt, vulnerable, and deeply human.
Codd also introduced viewers to her new wheelchair, which she playfully named Fat Tony. Showing it off proudly, she joked: “This is my new whip. I like to call her Fat Tony. She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved.” The caption on her post added her signature humor: “No legs who dis? #paralympics2026”.
Ruth Codd’s Experience on Celebrity Traitors
Codd appeared in the first season of Celebrity Traitors earlier this year, quickly becoming a viewer favorite for her wit, observation skills, and authenticity.
She was the third contestant to be eliminated, “murdered” by the Traitors in episode four after accurately naming Jonathan Ross as one of them during the roundtable. Her correct guess sealed her fate, prompting Ross and fellow Traitors Alan Carr and Cat Burns to remove her from the game.
Reflecting on her time on the show, she described the experience as surreal, saying she often wondered whether she would wake up from what felt like a bizarre dream.
Ruth’s Acting Career and Rise to Fame
Beyond reality television, Codd’s acting portfolio includes major Netflix projects such as The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher.
She originally gained a massive online following during the Covid pandemic, using TikTok to share comedic sketches and raise awareness about disability.
Her authenticity, humor, and openness have helped her build a strong and supportive community that continues to champion her journey.
