Pregnant Ashley Tisdale slammed for drinking coffee in new Instagram post
It's a fact that when you're pregnant you can expect to be at the mercy of so-called "health experts" on social media all the way through gestation.
You can expect to receive unsolicited advice from total strangers all about what you can eat, drink, and do while pregnant. This goes double for celebrities too.
For instance, this week Ashley Tisdale has provoked debate on social media after she shared a video of herself sipping coffee while pregnant.

(Now, despite the fact some advice is certainly worth heeding, it very important to make sure you listen to qualified medical professionals when it comes to your pregnancy.)
The trouble began when the 35-year-old former Disney Channel actress took to her official Instagram account to share a short clip of herself drinking from a coffee cup.

Writing to her 13.2 million followers, the High School Musical star captioned her post: "When youve been up since 4am it’s coffee time. [sic]"
Per Yahoo! News, a few other Instagram users took umbrage over Tisdale consuming a caffeinated beverage while pregnant:
However, some other Instagram users jumped in to defend Tisdale's caffeine consumption.
For instance, one person wrote: "Yes she can drink caffeine as long as her [doctor] or midwife gave her the okay to do so! You are allowed a certain mg a day."
Meanwhile, someone else added: "Omg everyone w their coffee comments. That idea is like 30 years old! YES you can drink coffee. [sic]"
In an interview with CNN on the issue back in August of 2020, Dr. Christopher Zahn, vice president of practice activities for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, stated:
"Our guidance remains that moderate caffeine consumption, less than 200 mg per day, does not appear to be a major contributing factor in miscarriage or preterm birth. The recommended amount translates to about one 12-ounce cup of coffee per day."

Tisdale first revealed her pregnancy in an Instagram post made back in October, showing her holding hands with her husband Christopher French, and displaying her baby bump.
According to Elle, Tisdale and French have been dating since 2012, and married in a rustic ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, on September 8, 2014.
