Nicki Minaj and her husband are reportedly being sued by the woman he was convicted of attempting to rape in 1995.
The rapper, 38, and her husband Kenneth Petty, 43, are being sued by Jennifer Hough after she claimed that Minaj attempted to bribe her to change her story and that she was harassed by the couple, according to TMZ.
Petty's conviction for first-degree attempted rape is the reason he has to register as a sex offender, per the outlet.
He was recently charged for failing to do so, TMZ reports, and according to court documents, he took a plea deal.
The mandatory minimum sentence for the offense is five years of supervised release, per the Daily Mail.
If Petty had failed to take the deal, he would have been facing up to ten years behind bars and a lifetime of supervised release.
Hough claims in new legal documents obtained by TMZ that the couple have caused her emotional distress by harassing her both directly and indirectly and threatening her to remain silent about the 1995 incident.
She claims that the harassment began when Minaj and Petty started dating at the end of 2018 when the rapper claimed that her now-husband was "wrongfully accused" of attempted rape.
The victim also says that Minaj said that she'd recanted her story, which she denies.
Hough adds that when Petty was arrested in March of last year for failing to register as a sex offender in California, Minaj offered to fly her and her family out to LA to have her recant her story.
However, when she turned down the offer, she claims that she and her family "suffered an onslaught of harassing calls and unsolicited visits."
Hough claims that her brother was then offered $500K by the rapper for a statement recanting her allegations against her husband.
She also claims that the 'Super Bass' rapper had lawyers sent to her home in a bid to have her change her story - an act that she said left her feeling frightened and intimidated.
She claims that she was bribed with another $20K to change her story about the rapper's husband and made an alleged threat to her safety.
As a result of this, she claims, she had to move from her home in August 2020, and she continues to live in fear, TMZ reports.
Hough is now suing the couple for intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment, and witness intimidation, and Petty for sexual assault in relation to the 1995 conviction.
