Eric Stonestreet has perfectly clapped back at trolls online for saying he is "too old' for his wife-to-be Lindsay Schweitzer.
As reported by People, the Modern Family star announced his engagement with his 2.3 million followers in a post earlier this week. In the post, he can be seen posing with now-fiancée Schweitzer, and captioned the series of cute snaps: "She said, 'She’d have her people call my people.'"
The Emmy award winner's post has since amassed over half a million 'likes', and was flooded with congratulatory messages from many fellow celebs and fans.
However, the star also received messages from internet trolls telling him that he was "too old" to be marrying Schweitzer and that she looked like "his daughter".
Not that age gaps in relationships are anybody's business anyway, but fans of Stonestreet know that he is 49 and nurse Schweitzer is 41 - a difference of fewer than eight years.
Nevertheless, the always witty Stonestreet decided to shut down the trolls clarifying the couple's ages - but with a hilarious twist.
Once again taking to Instagram, Stonestreet captioned a second post, saying: "Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49 year old man, to be engaged to my almost 42 year old fiancé. Look, she can’t help that she looks so great at 42 and I can’t help that I apparently look like her grandad so, I fixed it for everyone."
As you can from the post above, the CSI star hilariously opted to use a filter to considerably age Schweitzer - therefore "fixing" this issue for everyone. It's honestly one of the most creative troll shutdowns I've ever seen.
And Stonestreet's fans appreciated the post too, with people taking to the comments section to praise the Modern Family star for his expert response and amazing sense of humor:

However, perhaps the best comment came from Instagram user 'sweetasgia', who wrote: "Why do people feel the need to make those comments. I love your response [...] congrats".
Per People, the couple have been dating for the last five years, after Schweitzer met the pediatric nurse at the 2016 Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
