Lady Gaga prays that Joe Biden's inauguration will be 'a day of acceptance, not fear'

Lady Gaga has taken to social media ahead of her performance at Joe Biden's inauguration to say that she hopes today (January 20) will be "a day of acceptance, not fear".

Sharing a photograph of herself in the Capitol rotunda, the 'Pokerface' singer, 34, could be seen looking solemn while wearing an all-white ensemble that included a face mask.

"I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear," she wrote.

Alongside an American flag emoji, she continued: "A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls," she continued. "Love, from the Capitol."

The post comes less than a week after the singer said that she was deeply honored to have been asked to perform at today's inauguration, having been a part of the president-elect's campaign.

After Biden's victory, she shared a picture of herself hugging the former vice president, who served for eight years as part of the Obama administration.

"@joebiden @KamalaHarris and the American people, you just gave the world one of the greatest acts of kindness and bravery humanity has ever seen," Gaga wrote after he and Kamala Harris were elected to office.

"Nothing but love for our new Commander in Chief and the 1ST female VP elected to the White House. Also, way to go PA," she continued alongside a crying and a heart emoji.

PEOPLE reports that a week before the November 2020 election, Gaga performed in Pennsylvania to support the former Vice President.

"Something, something about my cool Pennsylvania guy," she sang, altering the lyrics of her track 'Yoü and I'. "There's something about, Joe, you and I."

The singer's performance of the American National Anthem today is set to be her first since she sang 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the 2016 Super Bowl.

However, Lady Gaga is not the only famous face set to perform at today's inauguration and she will be joined by Jennifer Lopez.
