Becky Lynch is no stranger to playing the heel in WWE, and her latest promo took the character to a new level of controversy.

The Irish wrestler, known for crossing lines in her “bad guy” persona, has sparked outrage after making a joke about the late rocker during Monday’s Raw episode in Birmingham, a comment that didn’t go over well with fans or the Osbourne family.

While hyping her upcoming Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Nikki Bella, the 38-year-old took aim at Ozzy’s hometown.

“The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I'd die too," she said.

The remark, which aired live during the August 25 broadcast, was met with shocked gasps from the crowd. While WWE later cut the line from their video on social media, it had already spread, quickly catching the attention of Ozzy’s daughter.

On the following day, Kelly took to her Instagram story to mistakenly tag one of the wrestler's fan accounts.

“You are a disrespectful dirtbag!” the 40-year-old wrote. "Birmingham would not p*** on you if you were on fire. Shame on the @wwe for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”

The timing of Lynch’s remarks was particularly hurtful, as the Black Sabbath star had passed away just over a month earlier, on July 22, 2025, after ongoing health problems, including Parkinson’s disease.

His death was a massive loss for both the music world and his loyal fans, with tributes pouring in from across the globe.

A public memorial in Birmingham saw fans gathering to honor the legendary rocker, making Lynch’s joke seem all the more inappropriate.

Lynch is known for her “The Man” heel character and has built a reputation for playing the antagonist.

Her persona is built on stirring the pot, taunting fans, and getting under the skin of her opponents and the audience. But this time, her words struck a nerve in the WWE Universe, particularly with those who felt her comments crossed a line.

"As a WWE fan I understand being a heel, but there was no reason for @BeckyLynchWWE to go there. I watched live. Honestly they could have chosen a different route to seek heat than that," one fan wrote on X.

A second added: "WWE may have let Becky Lynch go too far... not cool, she said things about Ozzy - too soon!"

Despite the backlash, some fans defended Lynch and stressed that her comments were simply part of her character.

"If Kelly had known the history of WWE then she would known Becky meant no harm in what she said," one person responded. Another said: "Becky didn't say anything disrespectful. She just used Ozzy's name to get some cheap heat."

Neither WWE nor Becky Lynch has yet responded to Kelly’s public criticism.
