Gordon Ramsay breaks silence over Steve Allen's 'body shaming' comments about daughter Tilly

Gordon Ramsay has finally broken his silence regarding radio presenter Steve Allen's less-than-flattering comments about his daughter's size.

Last week, 19-year-old Strictly Come Dancing contestant Tilly Ramsay slammed the LBC host after he made some derogatory remarks about her appearance live on-air, referring to the teenager as a "chubby little thing".

In a recent Instagram live, Gordon praised his daughter for the way she handled the situation, saying per The Independent: "It made me feel very proud that she stood up and said, 'I’m not taking this.'"

He went on: "She is 19 years of age for goodness sake – bursting her arse off and attending university by Zoom and learning the most extraordinary moves with Nikita [Kuzmin].

"I think it was a breath of fresh air that level of standing up and saying, 'We're not going to tolerate that.'"

Allen's comments about Tilly's appearance were made during his breakfast show last week. A comment from a listener was read out, revealing that Tilly would be taking part in Celebrity MasterChef Australia.

He then said: "Is she? Well, she can't blooming well dance. I'm bored of her already. She's a chubby little thing, isn't she, have you noticed? Probably her dad's cooking, I should imagine."

Tilly later took to Instagram to slam the 67-year-old's remarks, saying that she usually strives to look past "negativity" but that Allen's comments had crossed the line.

Tilly said: "I draw the line at commenting on my appearance. It's such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative."

She went on: "This isn't the first and definitely won't be the last comment made about my appearance. But please remember that words can hurt and at the end of the day I am only 19.

"I understand that being in the public eye obviously comes with its own repercussions and I’ve been aware of this from a young age."

She added: "However I won't tolerate people that think it's okay to publicly comment and scrutinize anyone's weight and appearance."

It is believed that Allen has since gotten in touch with the teen to apologize.
