Fans are furious that Justin Bieber named Selena Gomez 6 times while denying sexual assault allegations
Earlier this week, Justin Bieber took to Twitter to vehemently deny allegations of sexual assault that an anonymous woman claims took place in March of 2014 at a Four Seasons hotel in Austin, Texas.
However, the 26-year-old singer took to Twitter to shut down the concerning claims, going as far as to provide countless pieces of information that he asserts renders the allegations "factually impossible".
Bieber wrote: "I don’t normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight.
"Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement.

Then, in a string of tweets, Bieber shared receipts, accommodation booking confirmations, old fan photographs, articles, and screenshots surrounding the events of that day that he says proves the assault not only didn't happen, but could not have happened.
However, fans are now bashing the 'Sorry' singer for mentioning ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez by name six times while refuting the allegations.
At the time of the alleged attack, Bieber was in a relationship with Gomez, and he says he spent the night with her and some friends, writing on Twitter:
"What this person did not know was that I attended that show with my then gf Selena Gomez.
"Furthermore I stayed with Selena and our friends at an airbnb on the 9th and on the 10th stayed at a Westin because our hotel reservation at LÀ Quinta and not the four seasons was messed up."

But considering their history, fans have taken umbrage with Bieber relying on and naming Gomez as an alibi.
Bieber and Gomez were involved in an on-off relationship for roughly a decade before splitting for the final time back in 2018.
In September of last year, Bieber posted a candid essay on his struggles with addiction, fame, and depression - in which he also says he "abused all of his relationships" and became "disrespectful to women".

In addition, Bieber also told Vogue last year:
"I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff. My mom always said to treat women with respect. For me that was always in my head while I was doing it, so I could never enjoy it."
In addition, Gomez has previously spoken out about the "abuse" and "emotional chaos" of past relationships - most notably with Bieber.
And therefore, fans were quick to jump to Gomez's defence when they saw that Bieber has once again pulled her in as his alibi.
One Twitter user wrote: "im honestly disgusted at how justin used selena as his security blanket to cover his tracks. this never was about selena, and it never will be. using her to erase a victim's story is disgusting. it will always be fvck justin bieber and anyone that supports him."

And a second tweeted out: "Why is Justin Bieber using Selena Gomez (someone who abused and manipulated) as a witness to testify his statement and not any of his friends he claimed were there? This is manipulative bc he knows how she used to love him. Something doesn't add up. I hope she speaks against him".

A third typed: "The way Justin, his fans and his team disrespected Selena for years and now they all depending on her words to save his career."

Others slammed Bieber for not only using Gomez's name six times, but never referred to his current wife, Hailey Bieber, by name - only addressing her as "my wife."
One Twitter user typed: "Why did he refer to Hailey as "my wife" but named dropped Selena MULTIPLE TIMES? He could have easily said 'my gf at the time' and kept it moving. He's obviously using Selena's name to deflect attention onto her".

And another agreed, writing: "The way he couldn't say hailey's name and referred to her as his WIFE but then names drops selena's name 8 times. He F***ing knows selena wasn't going to say shit and had to emphasize that she was his only 'aliba'. He's still manipulating her wtf."
Selena Gomez has yet to speak out about the accusations.
Biber ended his string of tweets by writing: "Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action."

Justin finally retweeted a post from actor Cole Sprouse, who is currently facing his own accusations of assault.

Sprouse's post read: "False accusations do tremendous damage to victims of actual assault. Furthermore, I would never seek to silence anybody. I encourage that people look into the accusations themselves, as the events detailed were factually untrue."
