Elizabeth Olsen, 36, has proven she’s in touch with younger audiences by revealing she’s a fan of the viral ‘6,7’ meme.
The quirky phrase, popular among TikTok users and Gen Z, has become so widespread that some teachers even banned it from classrooms earlier this year.
If you’ve never encountered it, ‘6,7’ (pronounced six-seven) is essentially a meaningless, absurd phrase.
Dictionary.com crowned it Word of the Year 2025, describing it as “meaningless, ubiquitous, and nonsensical.” Its popularity stems from the absurdity and randomness that make it entertaining to younger audiences online.
What is the ‘6,7’ Meme?
The meme’s origin traces back to hip-hop artist Skrilla, who referenced it in his December 2024 track 'Doot Doot': “6-7, I just bipped right on the highway (bip, bip).”
Dictionary.com described the trend as “the logical endpoint of being perpetually online, scrolling endlessly, consuming content fed to users by algorithms trained by other algorithms.”
Olsen Talks About the Meme on Late Night
Olsen opened up about her love for the meme while promoting her upcoming film Eternity, in which she plays a 90-year-old woman.
Speaking with Seth Meyers on Late Night, she admitted: “I don’t really know what’s going on in culture.
"But I do know about 6,7. I’m really into 6,7.”
She explained why the phrase resonates with young people: “I think the reason they love it is because it’s absurd and random.
"Like, we do a lot of things that are maybe cynical or pointing at something, and there’s something really funny to me about the abstraction and absurdity of just getting excited about two numbers that are in order.”
Olsen added: “It’s not like a funny combination. It’s just like how it’s always been.”

Fans React to Olsen’s Unexpected Meme Knowledge
Her revelation sparked a frenzy on X, with fans expressing surprise and delight:
“Why is Elizabeth Olsen explaining 6-7 in my fyp? LMAO.”
“I never would've expected Elizabeth Olsen would know what 6-7 is [...].”
“Elizabeth Olsen knowing about 6-7 was not on my bingo card…”
“How does she know more about it than me?”
Olsen’s endorsement of the meme highlights the influence of internet culture and how absurd, seemingly meaningless trends can capture widespread attention.
Despite the phrase’s randomness, it’s become a key part of Gen Z lexicon, reflecting the humor and spontaneity that define modern online communities.
