Dita Von Teese has broken her silence on the Marilyn Manson abuse allegations to explain why her marriage to the musician ended.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (February 3), the burlesque dancer and model wrote that while "the details made public do not match my personal experience" with Manson, she urged "those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal."
She added: "I have been processing the news that broke Monday regarding Marilyn Manson. To those who have expressed your concerns of my well-being, I appreciate your kindness," Von Teese said.
"Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple," she continued, explaining that her relationship with Manson ended because of "infidelity and drug abuse".
"Had they, I would not have married him in December 2005. I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse," she said. "Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship. I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself."
"This is my sole statement on this matter," Von Teese concluded. "Thank you for respecting this request."
Teese's statement on her relationship with Manson echoes that of Rose McGowan who said that while she never personally experienced abuse from the singer, she stood with those who had.
This comes after Manson's former fiancée, Evan Rachel Wood, posted a statement to social media accusing the rockstar of abuse – an act which as prompted multiple other women to come forward with similar allegations against Manson.
In a statement made on her official Instagram account, 33-year-old Wood wrote: "The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson."
Wood continued:
"He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission.
"I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins more lives.
"I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent."
As per the BBC, Manson was dropped by his record label, Loma Vista Recordings, following the abuse allegations.
Manson himself has denied the claims, describing them as "horrible distortions of reality".
