Dave Chappelle has spoken out about the regret he feels after not responding to his final text message from Bob Saget.
In a video shared by TMZ on Friday, Chappelle can be seen talking to the audience about Bob Saget's funeral while performing at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles.
Speaking about how his fellow comic friends are aging, 48-year-old Chappelle told the crowd: "Listen, I’m getting old, so at my age a lot of people I know die. I started doing this comedy young. All of my peers are older than me."
Ever the comedian, Chappelle then quipped that those close to him are "dying like hotcakes."
Then he opened up to the audience about the last message he received from the late Saget.
"I didn't see [Saget's death] coming," Chappelle said. "Man, he just texted me and I saw the text yesterday and I never texted him back because I was just busy."
After a collective sigh from the audience, Chappelle says sincerely: "It happens."
The comic then shared an important lesson with the crowd: "I'm just saying this to remind you that these moments are precious. When I come out at night, I'm not just hanging out. I'm making memories."
Saget tragically passed away on Sunday at the age of 65. The Full House legend was found dead in hotel room at Florida's Ritz-Carlton just two hours after his stand-up show, TMZ reports.
Per BBC News, the exact details surrounding the star's death still remain unclear, but a short statement from the Orange County Sheriff's Department revealed that detectives had found no signs of foul play or drug use during initial inquiries. An investigation into the cause of Saget's death is ongoing.
Saget's funeral took place on Friday, with over 100 A-list stars attending and paying tribute to the beloved star. He was laid to rest at the Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Chappelle was able to attend, along with fellow comedians Kathy Griffin, Chris Rock, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jeff Ross.
