Daniel Craig reveals why he prefers drinking at gay bars

Daniel Craig has certain preferences when it comes to getting a drink.

The James Bond actor — who starred in this year's blockbuster, No Time To Die — is a fan of gay bars. Speaking on the Lunch with Bruce podcast on SiriusXM, the 53-year-old explained why he prefers to frequent LGBTQ+ establishments.

As it turns out, Craig likes to avoid "the aggressive d**k swinging in hetero bars."

"I've been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember. One of the reasons, because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often," he said. "Because the aggressive d**k swinging in hetero bars, I just got very sick of as a kid."

The Layer Cake star explained that he would normally get into "a punch up" on a night out, and that this didn't tend to happen in gay bars.

"It would just be a good place to go. Everybody was chill, everybody. You didn’t really have to sort of state your sexuality. It was okay. And it was a very safe place to be," he continued, before cheekily adding, "And I could meet girls there, cause there are a lot of girls were there for exactly the same reason I was there. It was kind of an ulterior motive."

Craig also recounted the time that he and interviewer, Bruce, were "caught" while at a gay club in Venice, California, back in 2010. Detailing that people had made assumptions about his sexuality, he said: "For me, it was one of those situations and the irony is, you know, we kind of got 'caught', I suppose, which was kind of weird cause we were doing nothing f***ing wrong.

"What happened is we were having a nice night and I kind of was talking to you about my life when my life was changing and we got drunk and I was like, 'Oh, let’s just go to a bar, come on, let's go out'. And I just was like, ”I know I don’t give a f**k,” and we’re in Venice."

Craig recently hung up the mantle of Bond after playing the iconic 007 for 15 years. He certainly went out on a high, with No Time To Die becoming the highest-grossing moving of 2021 just four days after it was released on September 30.
