Chrissy Teigen has opened up about her latest cosmetic procedure after fans were left confused by her bandaged face.
The 39-year-old model and cookbook author addressed the speculation on Friday, sharing a close-up of her stitches along with an explanation on Instagram Stories.
“At [sic] lot of you are wondering about my hospital pic, which is very understandable as I gave no explanation lol,” Teigen wrote. “I had a hairline-lowering procedure. Lost a lot in the front from babies, and it’s just very thin up there. When you see it on a carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions.”
Teigen said she plans to “share more later” about her recovery and described the experience as “a journey".
The mom-of-four's clarification comes after a recent Instagram Live appearance left fans concerned.
In the livestream, she appeared in a hospital bed with a beige bandage wrapped beneath her chin, around her cheeks, and across the top of her head. Despite noticeable swelling, she still offered a broad smile to the camera.
This latest procedure adds to a growing list of cosmetic surgeries that the model, who is married to John Legend, has candidly shared with her followers over the years.
She has been open about her history with plastic surgery, first revealing in 2020 that she got breast implants at age 20. Later that same year, she had them removed, stating, “I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort!” per Page Six.
“Don’t worry about me. All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat. Which is all a tit is in the first place. A dumb, miraculous bag of fat,” she added.
In 2021, Teigen revealed she underwent buccal fat removal to slim her face. “I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here,” she said on Instagram. “And since I quit drinking, I’m really seeing the results, and I like it.”
She has also discussed getting liposuction in her armpits - first in 2017 and again in 2021- to boost her confidence in sleeveless outfits.
“I had my armpit sucked out, which was one of the best things,” she told Refinery29. “It made me feel better in dresses; I felt more confident. It was the dumbest, stupidest thing I’ve ever done. The dumbest, but I like it, whatever. I have no regrets, honestly.”
“I had two inches to my armpit. Now it's back though, so now I've gotta pay for [liposuction] again. It was so easy,” she added.
Outside of cosmetic reasons, Teigen has also had Botox injections in her jaw to relieve tension from clenching.
“I also had Botox in my jaw muscle to relieve tension from constantly clinching,” she tweeted at the time, per Daily Mail. “I was not like this before. Pay my bill, POS POTUS.”
When asked about her most unusual beauty treatment, Teigen once admitted to having veneers installed after shaving her teeth down into “little pencil points.” She told Harper’s Bazaar, “I was a notorious teeth-grinder, so all my front teeth became a couple millimeters shorter.”
Despite the invasive nature of many of her procedures, Teigen has maintained an open and unfiltered approach. “I’m not shy talking about that sort of thing,” she said. “I have no regrets.”
