Britney Spears has shared a rare update on her two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15 — whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
In a belated birthday post shared on Tuesday (September 21), the 39-year-old said that she had grown emotional after realizing how quickly her children have grown up.
The post read: "There is nothing stronger than the love between a mother and son".
It was accompanied by a long caption about her experience of motherhood as her boys become young men.
"My boys’ birthdays were last week … and unfortunately they are growing up and want to do their own things .... I have to ask their permission to post them because they are extremely independent little men [sic]," she began, before detailing the birthday party she threw for them.
"Anyway we had a small party and the coolest ice cream cakes!!! It makes me crazy because they are so tall and geez they are still growing!!! They went to a dance last week and I cried for two days my babies in a suit !!! It’s crazy !!! And girls get ready cause my boys are so handsome [sic]."
Britney concluded by reiterating her sons' desire to stay out of the limelight: "I truly believe this quote which is why I wanted to share it … there’s a lot I can’t share with you all because my kids are very private which I love but I will tell you they are both extremely talented and I’m so incredibly blessed to have these two little men in my life!!!
"And if they’re reading this … which I’m pretty sure they’re not … I love you two little devils so much [sic]."
According to the Daily Mail, Britney has 30% custody of her sons, while her ex, Federline — whom she divorced in 2006 — has primary custody.
Upon their split in 2007, they agreed upon a 50-50 custody split. However, Federline was granted sole custody later that year after Britney suffered a public breakdown.
