Bella Ramsey stuns at the Met Gala after being told they didn't have the 'Hollywood look'

Bella Ramsey has stunned at this year's Met Gala, after they revealed they'd previously been told that they didn't have the "Hollywood look."

The 19-year-old actor - who is non-binary and uses both they/them and she/her pronouns - found fame in their leading role as Ellie alongside internet heartthrob Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us.

Despite becoming a fan favorite and being lauded for their amazing work in the post-apocalyptic thriller, their path to acting success hasn't always been an easy one.

In fact, Ramsey - who also appeared in Game of Thrones alongside Pascal - revealed that while auditioning for roles when they was younger, they was told her looks weren't right and got passed on for jobs because of it.

Speaking to GQ, in a clip that was shared on Twitter by @sourkettle, Ramsey heartbreakingly admitted that there were other roles they lost out on because they didn't fit Hollywood's beauty ideal. Ramsey explained: "I was told [in] one of my first auditions ever... The director really liked me but I didn't get the part because I didn't have the 'Hollywood look'. That's something that I've always found very interesting."

Ramsey had also revealed to the publication that even getting the role in The Last of Us came with criticism from fans over her "square head" and not looking like their imagining of the character. They added: "You're looking for a comment that's more painful than the last one. I'd kid myself that I was doing it in jest."

Despite the battle to get into the industry, Ramsey's talent ultimately won in the end, with The Last of Us's creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann choosing her from over 100 auditionees.

Now, Ramsey is obviously having the last laugh, after they showed up to what is arguably fashion's biggest night - the Met Gala. Strictly invite-only, the New York gala takes place each year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with this year's theme focusing on the iconic legacy of the late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Being able to say they've been in two hit series, as well as being able to call Pascal 'bestie', Ramsey is showing the trolls that they are clearly doing fine, thank you very much.
