Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes have called it quits after over two years of dating.
The popstars shared a matching statement on their respective Instagram Stories yesterday announcing the news.
"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever," they wrote.
"We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
The pair started dating in July 2019, but they first met in 2014 when Mendes and Cabello's then-group Fifth Harmony both opened for Austin Mahone.
The two hit it off and became close friends, releasing a song together, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', in November 2015.
Their second duet, 'Señorita', came out in 2019 and went all the way to No.1 on the Hot 100. It also won them an American Music Award for collaboration of the year.
After being spotted holding hands in July 2019, Mendes and Cabello confirmed they were a couple in September of that year by sharing a video of them kissing on Instagram.
They went on to spend lockdown together last year and celebrated their two-year anniversary over the summer. Cabello, 24, posted a gallery of photos from their time together with the caption "happy anniversary Kuko, here’s to more joy, more friendship, and more love."
Mendes, 23, shared a photo of the two kissing on a Caribbean beach and wrote "happy 2 years my baby."
The couple last shared a picture together on October 31, when they posted snaps on Instagram dressed up for día de los muertos. The news of their split came as a shock to many fans, who took to social media to lament the end of the relationship.
"I'm just hearing that Shawn and Camilla broke up, please tell me it's a lie," Tweeted one fan.
"Shawn and Camilla's break up has made me unable to believe in love anymore," wrote another.
Cabello is currently finishing her third studio album, Familia, while Mendes is due to start his Wonder: The World Tour in March.
