Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's self-titled Netflix documentary has been the talk of the town since it debuted on the streaming platform last week and despite it receiving some good reviews, not everyone has been a fan of the series...
The highly-anticipated six-part documentary - which was split into two releases - delves into the events that led to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relinquishing their royal titles and eventually leaving the United Kingdom altogether. The second installment of the series hit screens on Thursday, with three new episodes detailing the couple's lives as senior royals.
While there has been a general outpouring of interest from fans, it seems as though the series isn't serving its entire purpose.
As per Forbes, "critics have scored the show at a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, below most other series currently making up Netflix’s top 10 list. It’s described as 'bland', 'unquestioned self-promotion' and features things 'that definitely do not add up' according to some of the critics."
Yikes.
Well, one critic that has recently been pretty vocal online is none other than Real Housewives of New York City alum, Bethenny Frankel.
Posting to TikTok, the reality TV star slammed the docuseries as "boring."
"I found it a little bit boring," Frankel admitted on December 8. "It didn’t hold my attention. It seemed like they really wanted to be humanized.
"They wanted us to know that they are real human beings..." she continued. "We believe that you are really in love and we believe that you're really human beings."
However, the 52-year-old then went on to suggest that this was a ploy to keep the former Suits actress in the limelight.
"It felt like this entire documentary was about how famous we are… it was relentless," she said. "If you are being trolled by the media, the royal family gave you the advice to say nothing because that’s the advice that most very famous people are given. If you add gasoline to a fire, the fire blows up even bigger.
"It feels like they — and Meghan in particular — just keep wanting to tell us more."
The TV personality also added that the entire thing was a "grab job for money."
And it seems as though some of her followers agreed with Frankel's stance.
"It was more a 'Meghan story' than Harry. Lol," said one user.
"If I wanted to be left alone I would definitely stop giving interviews, having a podcast and having documentaries," added another.
A third commented saying "she definitely wears the pants in the relationship."
Harry and Meghan is now available to watch on Netflix.
