Ben Affleck trips fans out by speaking impeccable Spanish in new interview

Ben Affleck has shocked fans by whipping out his impeccable Spanish skills in a recent interview.

The 50-year-old took part in an interview with Spain's largest radio network La Cadena SER to promote his latest movie Air - which focuses on how Sonny Vaccaro and Nike pursued basketball rookie Michael Jordan, creating a partnership that revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture.

Having directed the movie, Affleck hopped on the Spanish network to discuss the storyline, telling La Cadena (translated to English): "The important thing to understand is that this is not the story of Michael Jordan, and Michael Jordan doesn't appear in the film. What's important to understand is that this isn't about Michael Jordan's story; he doesn't even appear in the movie."

He added that Jordan is "so big, so important, so magnificent that there's not an actor in the world who could be cast to play him whom the audience would believe. They would immediately think, 'This is all bulls**t. This movie is bulls**t. I don't believe any of this,' and they would destroy it completely."

Netizens have already decided to call him 'Benito', with one person sharing the video on Twitter with the comment: "Affleck angling to be called Benito with the recent vacancy."

Many people commented on how they believed 'Benito's' Spanish was much better than his wife Jennifer Lopez's. "He speaks better Spanish and Jlo who is an actual Hispanic," someone wrote.

"Still boogles my mind that his Spanish is better than JLO's," another added.

Others brought up how the Goodwill Hunting actor was switching between different Spanish accents. "Is he putting on a puerto rican accent now? He used to speak more of a northern mexican way," one comment read.

Someone else chimed in with: "The code-switching [between] a Mexican and an Argentinian accent here. The ability to correct himself when pronouncing something inexact is impressive. Yes to Benito."

Obviously, Affleck is married to the multi-hyphenate star JLo - who is of Puerto Rican descent and speaks Spanish. However, fans will be surprised to know that he first learned to speak Spanish when he was just 13 years old, while he was living in Mexico filming a kids' TV program.

In 2020, he even told Kelly Clarkson on her talk show that his eldest child, Violet - whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner - was always "interested in Spanish," so he'd "often help her" with her studies.

We're seriously impressed with his skills.
