Bam Margera blames 'Jackass' for his addiction and drug use issues in bombshell claim

Bam Margera has blamed his addiction and drug use issues on his involvement with the Jackass film franchise.

The 42-year-old says that his dependence on Adderall and pain killers was a direct result of his performances and stunts, The Blast reports.

Margera is suing the producers of the Jackass films over his firing from the new film, Jackass Forever, which is scheduled for release in 2022.

Now he claims he's owed millions - $9.65m to be exact - which he says is for his concepts because it's "unfair to allow them to use my ideas without compensating me for them".

According to legal docs obtained by The Blast, the Jackass star said: "I did not have any issues with addiction and drug use until I began my involvement… with the Jackass franchise.

"It was not until then that I became dependent on Adderall and pain medications to maintain the focus needed to satisfy the production schedule of Defendants for my various television and motion picture projects and to manage the pain associated with the injuries I suffered performing the stunts in those productions."

He continued: "I am informed and aware that my fellow castmates have publicly and privately detailed their own challenges with addiction.

"I do not share those details here, as that is personal to them, notwithstanding my personal observations and knowledge."

He then went on to outline specifics, as well as touching on his current mental health, saying: "As to me, I suffer from bipolar disorder and attention deficit disorder.

"I have taken prescription Adderall for more than the past 10 years. I also have a history of anxiety, disordered eating, and began abusing alcohol in my 20s. In 2009, at 30 years old, I entered a rehabilitation facility for the first time."

Margera sued Johnny Knoxville and a number of other members of the Jackass team for alleged "inhumane treatment."

Per Daily Mail, he said the expectations placed upon him for Jackass 4 amounted to torture.

Bam said: "It was the definition of f***in torture,' he said. 'They tortured me."

This took place after he was removed from the franchise and told to avoid alcohol and drugs, and the director Jeff Tremaine subsequently got a restraining order against him.
