Austin Butler pays heartbreaking tribute to Lisa Marie Presley

Austin Butler has paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley following her sudden death at age 54.

On January 12, TMZ reported that the singer-songwriter collapsed after a suspected cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California, and was given CPR by her ex-husband Danny Keough - who also lives on the property - until paramedics arrived.

Lisa Marie was then rushed to a hospital, with her 77-year-old mother, Priscilla Presley, taking to social media to ask for prayers and ensure fans that her daughter was "receiving the best care".

Tragically, the mother confirmed through an emotional statement obtained by People that her only daughter with the late musician Elvis Presley has passed away.

Providing a statement to the outlet, Priscilla said: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known."

"We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment," she added.

The 'So Lovely' singer's death stunned people as just two days before, she had attended the Golden Globes to champion 31-year-old actor for his role as her late father in Baz Luhrmann's critically acclaimed biopic, Elvis.

The star was victorious that night as he won the Best Actor in Motion Picture Drama award for his portrayal. While on stage, he shared a touching speech where thanked the 'Jailhouse Rock' hitmaker's family for their support.

"I also want to thank our incredible producers and Warner Bros and the Presley family, thank you guys," Butler said, to which the camera then panned to the mother and daughter duo looking visibly emotional.

"Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me," he continued, adding, "Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever."

Following news of her death, the Carrie Diaries actor has now shared a heartbreaking tribute to Lisa Marie to PEOPLE, revealing that his "heart is completely shattered" by the news.

His statement continued: "I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared."

"Her warmth, her love, and her authenticity will always be remembered," Butler added.

Many other stars also took their social media to share their condolences to the singer, including Tom Hanks - who starred as Colonel Tom Parker in the movie - and his wife Rita Wilson sharing their joint statement on Instagram.

"Our hearts are broken with the sudden and shocking passing of Lisa Marie Presley tonight. Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour," Wilson wrote.

"Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie," she added. "She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad."

"Our hearts and our prayers go out to Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny @nava_rone, and Priscilla. A mother should never have to lose a child. Lisa Marie lost her precious son Benjamin, Priscilla loses her only daughter. It’s too much. Sending love to the family, prayers for peace and strength," they added.

Lisa Marie followed in the footsteps of her father and pursued a career in the music industry. She released three albums: To Whom It May Concern in 2003, Now What in 2005, and Storm & Grace in 2012.

In 2018, she put out a new record 'Where No One Stands Alone' featuring 14 performances by the King of Rock'n'Roll including a reimagined duet - in which she sang alongside her late father who passed away at the age of 42 in 1977.

She is survived by her mother Priscilla, and children: Riley Keough, 33 (with former partner Danny Keough) and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood (with ex-Michael Dean Lockwood).

Our thoughts continue to go out to Lisa's family friends and fans at this time.
