Arnold Schwarzenegger says he feels 'fantastic' after undergoing heart surgery

Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken to Twitter to tell his fans that he feels "fantastic" after undergoing heart surgery.

In the post, the 73-year-old revealed that he had been given a new aortic valve.

This comes after he was given a new pulmonary valve in 2018 to replace the one he had fitted in 1997 as a result of a congenital heart defect, Sky News reports.

In the social media post, the actor thanked doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and revealed that he has already been up and about, enjoying the sights that the city has to offer.

The former governor of California captioned the pictures: "Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery.

"I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!"

This upbeat caption was followed by a number of pictures of the 73-year-old including one of him giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed.

Arnold previously discussed his heart surgery back in May, Sky News reports.

In an online graduation video, the Terminator star admitted he could have lost his life, adding: "The reason why I'm telling you all this is because no matter how successful you are, life will throw obstacles in your path, like it was with my heart surgery or your graduation now.

"But if you have a very clear vision like I talked about earlier, of exactly what you want to do and who you want to be, you can go and find a way around all of these obstacles.

"That's what life is all about, overcoming obstacles."

However, Schwarzenegger hasn't just taken care of his own health this year, he has also donated $1,000,000 in protective masks to fight the ongoing pandemic.

The masks were donated through a Flexport.org fundraiser - a charity established to get lifesaving equipment to those who need it the most.

The actor said that his decision to donate the masks was a "no brainer".
