Andrew Garfield has opened up about his secret role in Marvel's newest flick Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The 38-year-old actor - who played web-slinging superhero Peter Parker in the early 2010's Amazing Spider-Man films - donned the iconic red and blue suit once more for the generation-spanning movie.
In an interview on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast this Monday, Garfield chatted about his return to the series.
He explained that his top-secret role had to be kept hidden from everyone - even his old co-star and ex-girlfriend Emma Stone.
"Emma kept on texting me. She was like, "Are you in this new Spider-Man film?"' he said. "And I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'"

Stone starred alongside Garfield in both Amazing Spider-Man films, playing his love interest Gwen Stacey. As well as their on-screen romance, the pair dated in real life for four years and remain close friends.
"She was like, 'Shut up. Just tell me.' I'm like, 'I honestly don't know' — I kept it going, even with her," he continued laughing. "And then she saw it. She was like, 'You're a jerk.'"
Garfield wasn't the only Spider-Man to make a comeback in No Way Home. He and current incumbent Tom Holland were joined by the original Spidey-star Tobey Maguire, who first brought the superhero to the big screen in 2002.
The actor - who won a Golden Globe last week for his performance in Tik, Tik... Boom! - went on to say that it was hard lying about his role for so long.
Garfield added that the thing that kept him going was imagining how fans would react when they saw him make his surprise entrance.
"I kept imagining myself purely as a fan of that character, which is not hard to do. I would want the actor to do an incredibly good job at convincing me he wasn't in it, and then I would want to lose my mind in the theater when my instinct was proven right."
