Mother Nature is amazing, but every so often an animal comes along that takes people's breath away. Case in point, the harpy eagle, which is so huge that some people think it's actually a person in costume.
These incredible animals are one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world, according to the Peregrine Fund, and have a height of up to one meter and a wingspan of up to two.
They're so large, in fact, that a fully grown human could comfortably fit in their nest. In addition, the predatorial harpy eagles actually pluck sloths and monkeys out of trees to feast upon.

Pictures of harpy eagles, which are a threatened species, regularly crop up on social media, prompting an intense discussion about the animal's size, and the most recent made its appearance on Twitter.
A now-viral picture of the bird was captioned: "I thought this was fake... Harpy Eagle incredible bird!! How have I never seen this before!?"

The picture has now inspired its own Reddit thread, where the majority of the 3K-plus comments are remarking on just how terrifying the eagle looks.
Others concluded that the eagle is so big that it had to be a person earing a costume, whereas some thought it was a puppet - perhaps one from a Jim Henson movie.
One Redditor commented: "It looks like a person wearing a costume."
Someone else agreed, writing: "I first thought it was a person in a costume."
A third added: "This looks like something Jim Henson made... mildly creepy."
According to San Diego Zoo, the harpy eagle is set apart from other eagle species because the male is almost twice the size of the female.
"The harpy eagle's legs can be as thick as a small child's wrist, and its curved, back talons are larger than grizzly bear claws at 5 inches (13 centimeters) long!" its website explains.
"The harpy may not be the largest bird of prey (that title belongs to the Andean condor), but this extraordinary creature is definitely the heaviest and most powerful of birds."
