A man from Florida has managed to catch a gigantic 1,000-pound alligator which he says has been "stalking" him for years.
Per CNN, Corey Capps, who hails from Blountstown in Florida, was taking a boat ride down the Apalachicola River with his wife when he spotted the gigantic reptile lying on the bank.

After spying the creature from afar, Capps contacted a close friend by the name of Rodney Smith, who owned state-issued gator tags that allowed them to legally hunt the creature.
The next day, on October 13, Capps and Smith sailed out downriver and found the gator lying at the exact same spot.

The two men promptly harpooned and killed the 13-foot-long creature, which was so large it took the pair around three-and-a-half hours to move the animal 100 feet with their boat.

When they finally dragged the carcass to shore, they took it to a nearby recycling center. Capps told CNN that the gator weighed a whopping 1,008 pounds; falling just short of the Florida state record.

Capps stated that he intends on mounting the front legs and the head of the animal as a trophy. He added that he sold the remainder of the animal to a nearby processing business in Tallahassee.

In a later interview with CNN on his phenomenal catch, Capps stated:
"Three different times in the last two months, I've been back there fishing and he's stalked me. So me and him, something was going to give between the two of us."

Capps added: "We went out and harpooned him... and we didn't realize. We knew he was big, but not as big as when we pulled him up that bank. Across the top of his head was 16 inches wide.
"He's the biggest one I've ever seen."

According to The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the heaviest gator caught in the state was a 1,043-pound male from Orange Lake in Alachua County. The record-holder was almost the same length as Capp's gator, at 13 feet, 10-1/2 inches.
