1. The sex doesn't cut it anymore

If you find yourself rarely heading to the bedroom with your significant other, or if the sex has been stale for a while, it may be a good time to re-assess why you're still with your partner.

2. You never do anything new

Yeah, staying home, cracking open some wine and putting on the telly is great, but if you're never going out on any proper "dates" or doing anything different at all, you either need to put more effort into your relationship or have a serious talk with your significant other.

3. You can't stop arguing

Yes, arguments are healthy and to be expected in any long-term liaison. However, if you find yourself bickering about everything from what movie you're going to watch that night to having full blown altercations, it means that your relationship isn't in the best of places. You have even more reason to worry if you, or your partner deliberately goes out of their way to pick fights over the most innocuous of things.

4. You avoid making plans for the future

In the initial stages of a relationship, you practically get a buzz from making plans for the future and scheduling holidays with your beloved. So if you find yourself consciously avoiding making dinner reservations or RSVPing to weddings with your partner, it means you literally can't see a future where you two are together.

5. You're checking out other people

Sure, it's normal to find other people attractive when you're in a relationship - we're all human, after all. What's not okay, however, is when you're scoping people out left-right-and-centre. Further, if you find yourself acting like you're single on a night out, you really need to sit down and re-assess whether you're feeling wholly fulfilled in your current relationship.

6. You've considered cheating

This one's pretty much self-explanatory: you need to get out, and stat. Don't stick around, if you're ultimately going to end up hurting someone.

7. You're not affectionate with them

One of the greatest things about being in a relationship is how intimate you can be with another human being. So if you find yourself never snuggling up to, or kissing your partner, have a long, hard think about why that may be.
